Thanks to all who made our 2024 Disrupting Poverty Conference a success!

In March 2024, EMPath was proud to host its biennial Disrupting Poverty Conference at Boston University! The conference brought together more than 450 practitioners, policy makers, philanthropists, and academics from more than 35 states and five countries to discuss new strategies in disrupting poverty. It was a wonderful kick-off to a year-long season of celebration to honor EMPath’s 200-year history of empowering women and strengthening families.

There were powerful discussions around many topics related to advancing economic mobility – from guaranteed income and closing the racial wealth gap, to affordable housing and centering lived experience in policy and program design. It was energizing to hear from keynote speakers such as New School Professor and economist Darrick Hamilton, U.S. Representative Ayanna Pressley (MA-07), author Ibram X. Kendi, Princeton University Professor and author Kathryn Edin, and CEO of Springboard to Opportunities Aisha Nyandoro.

Members of EMPath’s global learning network of 1,000+ organizations gathered ahead of the Public Conference for a members-only Convening to continue important conversations around disrupting poverty, while also celebrating 10 amazing years since the network launched.

Stay tuned for our next conference in 2026. Sign up for our newsletter to get the latest updates.
