EMPath’s economic mobility coaching model, called Mobility Mentoring®, is a professional coaching practice where a participant and a mentor work together to set and achieve long-term goals. The approach is based on the idea that scarcity and poverty create chronic stress, which then creates a bandwidth tax, making it difficult to plan for the future.

Over ten years ago, EMPath piloted this 1:1 coaching approach with 20 families in South Boston. Today over 200,000 individuals have been served with the model.

Last fiscal year, graduates of that South Boston flagship program raised their annual income 178% on average. The same year, participants of member organizations raised their annual income $5,000 on average.
