MassLEAP - Learning, Education, and Asset Program
In 2014, the Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD) funded $8.1 million to create a five year program to provide holistic services to lead low-income individuals to economic independence. From 2014–2019, EMPath partnered with the Braintree, Quincy, and Watertown Housing Authorities to provide families Mobility Mentoring® services, including coaching for finances, education, and career services. The long-term program ended in August 2019.
Whittier Street Project
The low-income housing development on Whittier Street in Boston underwent a radical change for the better. EMPath was tapped to provide its Mobility Mentoring services by the Boston Housing Authority and the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Located in Roxbury, the 200-unit complex was replaced with a new mixed-income housing community that provides homes to twice the number of families. EMPath’s team has already helped many families make progress in a range of areas.
