Economic Mobility Pathways (EMPath), a national nonprofit that dramatically improves the lives of people experiencing poverty, has announced the expansion of its executive leadership team with the appointment of Ben Seyoum as Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President, and Rudy Ash as Chief Advancement Officer. These key additions reflect a strategic investment in leadership to support the organization’s long-term vision and growing impact on the lives of people experiencing poverty.

Seyoum brings extensive experience in nonprofit management, strategy development, operations, and organizational change management, most recently as Managing Director of Business & Operations at Springfield Prep Charter School. In that role, he led HR, IT, and operational improvements to drive efficiency and effectiveness across the organization. Prior to that, Seyoum oversaw operations at Jobs for the Future (JFF), where he led the organization through the development of its first ever strategic and operational plan. His expertise in operational excellence and strategic growth will be invaluable to strengthening EMPath's internal infrastructure and expanding its overall impact.

Ash joins EMPath from the West End House where, as Chief Development Officer, he raised over $66 million in partnership with the CEO, leadership team, and Board of Directors. That includes the successful completion of a $23.5 million comprehensive campaign. Prior to the West End House, he was the Senior Development Officer at The Posse Foundation, where he launched major new fundraising initiatives for their Chicago chapter. As EMPath’s CAO, he will be responsible for advancing fundraising, marketing, and strategic partnerships, strengthening the organization’s visibility and philanthropic reach.

"We are thrilled to welcome Ben and Rudy to the EMPath leadership team," said Kim Janey, President and CEO of EMPath and former mayor of Boston. "Each brings exceptional expertise, skill and vision that will be crucial to moving EMPath forward. We are living in a time when unprecedented obstacles challenge our work every day. Adding to our leadership team and strengthening our operations and fund-raising capabilities, will allow us to meet those challenges and continue to help people achieve economic stability and transform their lives for themselves and their families.”

The addition of these roles supports EMPath’s strategic priorities and enhances its ability to innovate, execute, and connect more deeply with partners and supporters.
