Theresa Mitchell serves as the Community Life Senior Manager, in Detroit, Michigan, a position she has held since 2022. Theresa leads the Choice Neighborhood Initiative People
Strategy providing residents access to partners and the community so they can thrive. Her work supports achieving increased economic self-sufficiency, health opportunities, and
housing stabilization among residents at Clement Kern Gardens. Before joining The Community Builders, Theresa’s spent the last two decades advocating and building programs for Detroit
children, families, and communities.Theresa is well known in the Detroit community, and amongst partners nationally, through the 10 years she spent overseeing and directing programs at the
Detroit Parent Network (DPN). While at DPN, Theresa developed, trained and managed 40-plus staff and AmeriCorps team members. An alumnus of Madonna University (Livonia, MI), Theresa holds a BA in English Language Arts and Elementary Education, and an MBA in Business Administration and Human Resources from the University of Phoenix (Southfield, MI).
Committed to community and restoration, she serves as Block Club President and is committed to restoring the “village concept” in Detroit communities. Most importantly, Theresa is a mother to three children, Ethan, Eva, and Eyan who drives every opportunity and goal she takes on! She takes pride in her work, relationships, and messages she can share in her work and community through the opportunities that given.
