My name Is Maureen Flowers. I was raised in New Jersey I attended New Jersey City University where I attained my bachelor’s degree in psychology. After graduation, I was employed with Enterprise Rent A Car, where I excelled as a manager for some years. After working for Enterprise Holdings, I relocated to Virginia. I always wanted to work in The Human Services field, so I applied for Eggleston Services located in Norfolk Virginia. At Eggleston my role was an Employment Specialist, in my role there I supported individuals with disabilities and challenges to prepare them for work readiness and retention of employment. After working at Eggleston, I accepted the role at United Way of Hampton Roads as a Lead Mentor for the new initiative program called VBThrive and
NFKThrive. My journey with United Way has been an extraordinary experience. Working with the VBThrive and NFKThrive mentees has been rewarding. Rewarding because my position has allowed me the opportunity to gain training through the Empath Mobility Mentoring trainings. My training has prepared me to support, encourage and empower mentees to strive for self-sufficiency in hopes of making better decisions on behalf of themselves and their families. I am passionate about the work I do, especially when I see the fruition of the diligence and efforts of the mentees.
